A light brick allows reducing the weight of a particular layer, but it does not automatically confirm the durability of the device during transport. In a mobile smokehouse, insulation, lining, and the load-bearing structure must be evaluated separately. Start with the function of the material in cross-section, instead of replacing every heavier brick with a lighter one.
Identify the insulating brick
Vitcas Grade 23 is a lightweight, porous insulating brick for the described applications. The datasheet provides resistance up to 1260°C and low thermal mass. These are different characteristics than the ability of a dense lining to store heat.
Dense refractory bricks have a different role when in contact with fire, tools, and equipment. Do not assess replacement based solely on dimensions. Pay particular attention to load points and surface requirements that come into contact with food or are cleaned.
The transport concerns the entire device
Record the method of support, retention of the components, and movement of the smokehouse. A lightweight brick does not eliminate the loads from an uneven road or equipment movement. Do not determine the mass of the complete construction based on a single product.
ceramic fibre blanket is a different insulation format in compatible systems. Its selection also requires fastening and fibre protection. Choosing a lighter layer should maintain the functions of the other parts of the device.
Before placing an order
Compare the described applications with the design and handling method. Also determine the joint material intended for the specific brick. Do not assume that the mortar used in the adjacent layer is suitable for every new element.
Keep the drawing, formats, and execution photos. After moving the appliance as permitted, inspect the parts cold before use. The decision for Grade 23 should result from confirmed insulation function; the mere desire to build a portable smokehouse is not a sufficient criterion for replacing the lining.
